With mankind’s rapid development and increase in population, have you ever wondered about how we will continue to feed the planet? Will we have enough natural resources, or will we need to turn to alternate means? Kafnu is honoured to invite three thought leaders in the food and nutrition industry – Susan Evans, Founder & CEO Melee Limited; Founder Hong Kong Food Hackathon, Ms Susanna Wong, CEO of YATA Limited and Dr Tanja Sobko, Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong – to join our panel discussion on the pressing topic of The Future of Food. This event will be conducted in English.

Founder & CEO Melee Limited; Founder Hong Kong Food Hackathon
Susan Evans is a change maker, advisor and leader in innovation and design. Her vision, practice and research focus on the creation of new regenerative eco-systems that can drive next-economy business and society. Starting her career as a mathematician, computer scientist and statistician with proven creative leadership, Susan was a member of prestigious EU research and development projects, and has held Vice President roles in global advertising with world leaders including Saatchi and Saatchi and Publicis London, FCB and Young and Rubicam San Francisco, CMO and strategic consultant for Silicon Valley digital start-ups and world leaders including Intel, Volvo, Pepsi-co. More recently featured in The Guardian’s 50 global social-entrepreneurs, she received extensive media coverage for her work in China: where she founded a social enterprise to create market and demand towards healthier society: includes prototypes for future resilient cities and cross-disciplinary spaces to inspire innovation and collaboration among policy makers, citizens and business.
Food systems innovation remains core to her work: Susan launched the Hong Kong Food Hackathon in 2018 with intension to accelerate entrepreneurship and radical change in the food system. Evans is known as a frequent speaker, researcher and peer reviewed writer on innovation, systems regeneration and business transition.
CEO of YATA Limited
Susanna Wong graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and holds a Master degree from Ecole Des Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) in Paris and MBA degree from INSEAD. She is the CEO of YATA Limited and the Director of Planning and Operations of the Non-property Portfolio Businesses Department of Sun Hung Kai Properties Ltd. From 2016 to 2018, she successfully led the team to expand branch network from 7 to 11.
Prior to joining SHKP, Susanna was the Director of an international strategic management consulting firm focusing on retail and consumer goods industry. She has worked on a wide range of projects with different types of retailers in the Greater China region, Southeast Asia and Europe when she worked at McKinsey & Co and OC&C Strategy Consultants. In addition to her 14 years in strategy management consulting, she has also worked at ChinaCare Limited, managing multiple joint venture healthcare businesses in China, the Airport Authority Hong Kong and Nestle China.
Dr Tanja Sobko
Assistant Professor at the University of Hong Kong (PhD, 2006, Karolinska Institutet, Sweden)
Dr Tanja Sobko has multidisciplinary expertise in pharmacology, nutrition, healthy lifestyle interventions, sports nutrition and more recently, food and environment. She contributed to an early-nutrition initiative for the World Health Organisation (WHO), Programme for nutrition, physical activity and obesity. Tanja’s work encompasses not only research and teaching but also the dissemination of the research findings to the wider community. She has recently received a substantial funding from the HK Government to roll out a developed by her early environmental education program ‘Play & Grow’ in Hong Kong. Her research focuses on lifestyle adjustments that families with pre-schoolers can make, which will directly improve the health of both the children and their families. By increasing the contact time that families have with nature, the programme has been developed to assess and potentially identify the causal relationship between the outdoor environment and health; a continuous process of data analysis runs concurrently with the development of valid and reliable evaluation methodologies. Tanja has been teaching the courses ‘Physical Activity and Health’, ‘Sports Nutrition’ and has recently developed a brand new course ‘Food, Environment and Health’, highly appreciated by the HKU students. In her talks, Tanja hopes to further raise the awareness of public to this issue, as well as to introduce crickets as nutritious future food. She is excited to share some of the very creative ‘cricket’ projects her students developed during the recent ‘Food, Environment and Health’ course.
